ZeroLanes is a UK private hire company, and those two things are the whole job. You tell us where you are going and when, we quote one price, and a checked driver in a checked car turns up. Everything below is how we hold that up.
What you get, every time
You are safe in the car
Nobody drives a ZeroLanes journey until we have checked who they are and what they are driving, and every live journey carries an emergency alert that reaches a person rather than a queue. This is the part of the job we treat as not negotiable.
The car turns up
Journeys are booked ahead and a car is held for yours. Nobody starts looking for a driver at the moment you are due to leave, which is the failure that ruins an early flight, and you can see the driver and the car on your booking before they set off.
You can see where your car is
Once your car is on its way you can follow it on your booking, with the name of your driver, the make, colour and registration of the car, and how long it will be. No wondering whether anything is coming.
A panic button that reaches a person
Every live journey carries an emergency alert. Pressing it sends your location and your booking to our team, who acknowledge it back to you so you know somebody is on it. It escalates on a timer if nobody answers.
One price, fixed at booking
You are quoted a price before you book, and that is what you pay. It does not change for traffic, for a longer route, or for a driver who takes a wrong turn. The price you see on the confirmation is the price on your statement.
Your card is held, not taken
For a journey within a week we place a hold on your card and only charge it after you have travelled. Booking further ahead, we save the card and take payment closer to the date rather than sitting on your money for a month. Card details are entered with Stripe and never reach us.
How we know
Every driver and every car is checked before either can take a journey. We hold the documents themselves and their expiry dates rather than taking anyone at their word, and a document that lapses takes that driver or that car off the road with us until it is renewed.
Private hire driver licence
Issued by the driver's local authority. We hold the document, its authority and its expiry date, not a tick in a box.
DBS check
A criminal record check on every driver, verified before they can be given a journey.
Hire and reward insurance
Ordinary car insurance does not cover carrying paying passengers. We check the policy that does.
MOT and vehicle licence
Every car carries a valid MOT and its own private hire licence, checked against the registration that turns up.

We open one region at a time rather than the whole country at once, so that every area has checked drivers and cars behind it before we take journeys there. The first is Greater Manchester.
